Training for Life
A Documentary Short
Training for Life
Training for Life follows Samantha Sauer (Sam), a certified patient advocate living with Gastroparesis and multiple chronic illnesses, as she attempts to train for a comeback half-marathon after years of health setbacks and a near-death experience with sepsis. The film chronicles Sam's determined mindset and steadfast commitment to running and training in a body that rarely cooperates. Her training, like her remarkable healthcare journey, has its share of highs and lows, setbacks and pivots. In the film, Sam weaves them together to inspire, motivate and educate not only those with chronic illness, but anyone facing adversity.
